Influences: A Czech Scientist, Coral Reefs

California College of the Arts

November 2023

In this talk—complemented by images and poems on the large screen—I explore unexpected influences on my creative and critical practices.

After an introduction by writer Caroline Goodwin, in the first half of this talk I focus on my work with poet and scientist Miroslav Holub.

In the second half of this talk, I turn to the ways I bring researched and experiential knowledge about coral reefs into my creative practices.

Stories of Us

California College of the Arts

August through October 2023

This exhibition of faculty work offers personal stories of belonging, care, and community. In October, poet Caroline Goodwin and I gave a public reading in our Campus Gallery. I shared the haibun "Juniper Lake, Late July" and several poems, all from Buoyant
